Director of Global and Civic Engagement, The Nightingale-Bamford School, New York, NY, USA
The primary responsibilities of this 12 month exempt position focus on global and civic engagement. These include developing and managing an intentional K-12 approach to global engagement and off-campus programs; developing a vision and plan for integrating an appreciation for multiple perspectives and global understanding more deeply into the curriculum, including supporting faculty towards this end; further refining and executing existing risk management policies and procedures and staying abreast of risk concerns; and providing coordinated oversight of international travel opportunities, including providing planning support to program leaders in all aspects of proposing, creating, managing risk, and executing off-campus programs. Other responsibilities include the development and management of an intentional K-12 approach to service and service learning, including coordinating the efforts of service coordinators in each school division and the development and maintenance of relationships with community members, including non-profits, civic groups, and city agencies, to ensure relationships are sustainable and mutually beneficial and to identify opportunities for meaningful student engagement.
Global Network and Cultural Exchange Coordinator, Academy of the Sacred Heart, New Orleans, LA, USA
The Global Network and Cultural Exchange Coordinator works closely with the Division Heads and other relevant administrators in matters pertaining to: Programming and direction for schoolwide Open Hearts, Open Minds inclusion and belonging efforts tied to the Sacred Heart Goals & Criteria, building relationships and increasing awareness in the broader community of what Sacred Heart has to offer in order to recruit students of diverse races, ethnicities, and backgrounds, short-term global travel including building partnerships with Sacred Heart schools around the world, trip development in coordination with a sister school, programming for delegations of students from sister schools travelling to the Rosary, research, materials, risk management, and communication between students, parents, faculty and administration, and global curriculum and cultural competencies development aligned with the Sacred Heart Goals & Criteria.
SYA Italy Resident Director, Viterbo, Italy
The Resident Director (RD) serves as Head of one of SYA’s three campuses abroad in France (Rennes), Italy (Viterbo) or Spain (Zaragoza). The year-round position includes duties similar to those of a Dean of Faculty, Academic Dean and/or Upper School Head of a small independent school. They manage a faculty and staff of 10–20 and welcome 40–70 new students each year (depending on campus). Most faculty are local to the country where the school is located, with the exception of teachers of English and mathematics, who are typically hired from SYA Member Schools or other independent schools. The successful candidate with be comfortable working in a dynamic environment that often requires problem solving in a culturally unfamiliar environment, flexibility and a high level of understanding and ability to work with American adolescents. A dedication to place-based and experiential education is essential, as is knowledge of best practice in education abroad. Also crucial is the ability to build and maintain a faculty community based on collaboration and constant professional development and growth.
The SYA Italy Resident Director position is based in Viterbo, Italy, and reports to the President of School Year Abroad who is based in the United States. This position officially starts on July 1, 2025; it is offered by annual contract, with our goal to have RDs serve for multiple years.
Assistant Director of The Sage Center for Global Education, Sage Hill School, Newport Beach, CA, USA
The Assistant Director of The Sage Center for Global Education and Inclusion will play a pivotal role in shaping the vision and leading the implementation of the School’s global and experiential education initiatives. Working closely with the Sage Center Director, this position will oversee the Spring at Sage program, managing both international and domestic travel experiences and local seminars that enrich student learning and global engagement.
